The Mayfair Varsity Girls Tennis team is set to begin their season with an across-the-street matchup against St. Joseph High School tomorrow (9/1) at 3:00pm.

The Monsoons, led by Coach Tran, will look to improve upon a successful 2015 campaign which saw them finish with a 10-7 overall record and a 9-3 Suburban League record.

The Monsoons will face six non-conference opponents, including St. Joseph, over the next two weeks to prepare for a 12 match Suburban League schedule which starts September 15th against Artesia High School.

They will also travel to Brea Olinda High School for a midseason non-conference matchup on September 28th.

The regular season will conclude with the Monsoons competing at the Suburban League Finals on October 27th where they will fight for postseason qualifications.

The young Soon’s squad will look to its three seniors: Rosa Chavez, Marinel Crisostomo, and Mia Le, for leadership. Jainah Fajardo is the lone junior on the varsity team.

Sophomores Summer Almond, Jennisa Jearvorachai, Esmeralda Orozco, Alice Oum, and Angeleen So, along with freshman Bri Figueroa, round out the 10 person team.

Come support the tennis team September 1st at 3:00 pm at St. Joseph High School as they begin their season.
