After an ugly first half, the Monsoons dominated the second half to defeat the Artesia Pioneers 67-30.

The Monsoons were only up 11-7 at the end of the first quarter and by seven at the half. However, in the first three minutes of the third quarter the Monsoons went on a run to put the game away, jumping out to a 38-16 lead en route to a 67-30 victory.

Defense was the story of the game for the Monsoons as they recorded 21 steals and only gave up 30 points.

Once again it was sophomore Ayah League who led Mayfair. She scored 13 points while chipping in five rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Briauana Thompson nearly had a double-double with 11 points and 9 rebounds while Kaylin Dent added 9 points.

Sarah Clausen led the defensive charge with five steals.

With the win Mayfair moves to 9-1 in league play and sets up a Tuesday showdown with the 11-0 Cerritos Dons. If the Monsoons win they will likely share the league title with Cerritos. A loss will hand the Monsoons a second place league finish.
