League MVP Real leads 9 wrestlers to individual titles

A week after claiming the CIF-SS Western Division Dual Championships, Mayfair continued their dominance in boys wrestling at the Suburban League Individual Wrestling Finals. Monsoon athletes claimed nine of the fourteen individual championships at stake and had an athlete qualify for CIF in every weight class.

Favian Real led the charge ant 160 pounds and was selected as the League MVP for his efforts.

Ernie Aguilera (106), Jose Alvarez (113), Robert Eredia (126), Khalil Howard (145), Alec Martinez (160), Daniel Delgado (170), Jarrod Nunez (182), and Ezekeil Estrada (195) all claimed individual league titles as well for the Monsoons.

Anthony Estrada (120), Brody Whitt (132), Josh Salgado (138), Taylen Washington (220), and Joseph Tan (285) all placed high enough to qualify for CIF.

Aguilera, Alvarez, Howard, Real, Nunez, and Tan are all ranked in the top 40 in the state by The California Wrestler while Eredia is listed as an honorable mention.

The CIF-SS Individual Divisional Preliminaries will take place next Friday with the Finals on Saturday. Both days are at Hesperia High School. Wrestlers will be competing to qualify for the CIF-SS Masters Meet in Ontario the following week.
