The Mayfair Monsoon Cross Country squad competed in warm conditions at the notoriously dusty course in Griffith Park. The meet held Varsity, JV, and Frosh/Soph races in 3 different divisions, with the Monsoons competing in the Red Division.
Junior Tori Castillo led the way for the Monsoon girls team, posting Mayfair’s fastest time of the day with a 22:18, good enough for 88th. Next for the Monsoons was Alyssa Betancourt with a time of 24:04, closely followed by Jenna Yeaman and Caitlyn Carstens with times of 24:12 and 24:36 respectively. With only four runners, the team did not place as a team.
Cole Bon was the first Mayfair runner across the line, covering the course in 17:00 and coming in 82nd. Sebastian Eastin (18:16), Robert Garcia (18:26), Paul Cuellar (18:33) and Mark Young (18:56) made up the rest of Mayfair’s scoring runners as the Soons placed 21st with 556 points.
Sebastian Fausto lead the Mayfair JV boys, running a 20:35.
Veronica Ferrell lead the way for the Frosh/Soph girls, coming in 31st place with a time of 23:35 and posting the Monsoon girls second fastest time of the day.
Tyler Stibal was the top finisher for the Soons, coming in 69th place with a time of 18:51.
