Senior Cole Bon squeaked into the top 10, using a 17:17 to secure 10th place. Senior Josiah Jackson was the second Monsoon finisher in 25th place with a time of 18:11. Bon and Jackson led the Soons to a fifth place finish, defeating John Glenn 26-32 and narrowly losing to Bellflower 30-25.
Senior Bill Chuang of Cerritos was the winner with a time of 16:39, followed by freshman teammate Cole Yager who outsprinted four La Mirada runners to secure a 1-2 finish for the Dons. However, it wasn’t enough as La Mirada used their 3-6 and eighth place finishes to edge out Cerritos 26-31 to take the victory.
Senior Lisa Higgins and junior Tori Castillo used top-20 finishes to lead the Monsoons to a fourth place finish. Higgins covered the course in 22:28 which was good enough for 16th place, closely followed by Castillo in 18th place at 22:40, helping Mayfair narrowly clip Bellflower 26-29.
Norwalk once again placed five in the top-10 to take the team victory over La Mirada 19-37. Juniors Misty Diaz and Ruby Galindo of Norwalk finished 1-2 with times of 18:55 and 19:02 respectively.
The JV boys turned in a strong team performance behind the efforts of juniors Omar Navarro, Fred Torres, and Sebastian Frausto. Navarro used a big kick to prevent a 1-3 finish for Cerritos, placing third with a time of 18:27, while Fred Torres’s 18:49 took 8th place. Frausto gave the Soons a third top-10 finish with an 18:58, followed closely by sophomore teammate Tyler Stibal in 11th at 18:59. Mayfair’s quartet led the Soons to a second place finish, scraping by Norwalk 26-29 and barely losing out to Cerritos 29-26.
Seniors JiWoo Choi, 18:06, and Derrick Yang, 18:26, finished 1-2 which was the deciding factor in their victory over Mayfair.
Junior Jaden Calea Cleto was the top finisher for the Monsoon JV girls, coming in 26th with a time of 25:19. Cleto’s finish helped Mayfair place fifth as a team, falling just short of Bellflower 31-26.
